EU: Zoe Saldaña recibirá premio Herencia Hispana

WASHINGTON.- La actriz de origen dominicano Zoe Saldaña, el cantante colombiano Carlos Vives y el músico mexicano Pepe Aguilar recibirán este año el reconocimiento de los prestigiosos premios Herencia Hispana de la fundación homónima, que celebra la contribución de los latinos en Estados Unidos.

Saldaña recibirá el premio «Visión», Vives «Leyenda» y Aguilar el «Máster de las Artes».

La Fundación Herencia Hispana (HHF, en inglés) adelantó este jueves en un comunicado la lista de premiados que recibirán su galardón el próximo 18 de septiembre en el Warner Theatre de Washington, en el marco del mes de la Herencia Hispana en Estados Unidos.

En la edición de este año también recogerán galardones el exjugador de baloncesto estadounidense Bernie Williams y el congresista por Texas Rubén Hinojosa.

Por primera vez este año la PBS emitirá los premios en un especial de una hora que podrá verse en toda la nación el 29 de septiembre a las 22.00 horas, horario del este (02.00 GMT).

«La comunidad hispana ha hecho contribuciones significativas a lo largo de la historia y estamos orgullosos de reconocer ese impacto. Más allá de la celebración del éxito ya conseguido, queremos centrarnos en el futuro. Ahora más que nunca los latinos jugarán un papel clave en el futuro de Estados Unidos», afirmó en el comunicado José Antonio Tijerino, presidente de la HHF.

Los premios Herencia Hispana los estableció la Casa Blanca en 1987 para conmemorar la creación del mes de la herencia hispana en Estados Unidos.

Desde entonces, se considera que estos premios son uno de los mayores honores entregado por hispanos para hispanos en la nación.

«Esperamos que la emisión de esta gala inspire un entendimiento cultural y una mayor apreciación de nuestra diversidad como estadounidenses», consideró en el mismo comunicado la presidenta de la PBS, Paula Kerger.
